AI Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said on Thursday that the airlines are making every effort to help the emergency response teams at the aircraft accident site and will provide all the necessary assistance to the affected people in the accident. An Air India aircraft going to London crashed only a few moments after flying from Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday afternoon.
The aircraft had 242 people, including 10 crew members. The Boeing aircraft appeared fast and crashed in Meghani Nagar area near Ahmedabad International Airport at around 2 pm.
Chandrasekaran said in a statement, “With great grief, I confirm that AI 171 crashed today, AI 171, flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, AI 171. Our deep condolences are with the families and loved ones of all the people affected in this incident. ”
Chandrasekaran is also the chairman of the Tata Group. He said, “At this time our primary attention is on helping all the affected people and their families. We are working to assist emergency response parties at the accident site and provide all the necessary assistance to the affected people. ”
Chandrasekaran said that an emergency center has been started and assistance teams have been deployed for the families seeking information. He also said that additional details will be shared on receiving more verified information.
