New Delhi. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has demanded the closure of a 500 rupee note from the central government. He said, as long as there is a trend of big notes, the possibility of corruption in cash transactions cannot be ruled out. Naidu said, to curb corruption and bring transparency in financial transactions, it is necessary that digital currency is used. He said this while addressing party workers during the annual Mahanadu program of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in YSR Kadappa district.
TDP Chief said that when payment is made through digital medium, every transaction can be easily traced. In this way transparency in financial transactions will be ensured. The country’s economy can also be made clean and safe through digital transactions. Naidu said that while handing over the report on digital currency, he had earlier suggested to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the printing of big notes should be stopped and they should be excluded from circulation. He says that even after demonetisation, he had suggested to the central government that digital currency should be brought. If the country had grown completely towards digital payment from that time, today the situation of corruption would have improved to a great extent.
He said that today when many countries of the world are using digital currency, we should also think in that direction. Giving an example, Andhra CM said that if someone had to donate for a political party, we had to see the list, but now only the QR code can be donated. TDP has also started it by taking initiative on this. According to Naidu, digital transactions will also reduce cases like tax evasion and bribery.
