The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday criticized the opposition party for questioning the comment of Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi for questioning the veracity of the air strike in Balakot after the 2019 Pulwama terror attack and said that the Congress is repeatedly providing “oxygen” to Pakistan.
BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said in a press conference, “It is the Congress Working Committee inside, but outside it works like a Pakistan Working Committee.”
Patra said that it has become a trend in the Congress that its proposal and its leadership speak in some other voice, while many other leaders talk in some other voice.
The Congress Working Committee (CWC) passed a resolution on Friday, urging the Center to work firmly to punish Pakistan continuously supporting terrorism.
Patra told reporters that soon after the CWC passed the resolution, Channi held a “parallel” press conference in which he questioned the reality of India’s air strike in Balakot after the 2019 Pulwama terror attack and also taunted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He told reporters, “The Congress does not leave any chance to give oxygen to the Pakistani army and terrorists and boost their morale.”
Referring to the Pulwama attack, Channi had said that 40 Indian soldiers were killed and the government claimed action when the election came.
The former Punjab Chief Minister had said, “But we never saw where attacks were carried out in Pakistan and where people were killed. If someone throws bombs in our country, will people not know? He claimed to have a ‘surgical strike’ against Pakistan, but nothing happened. ‘Surgical strike’ was not seen anywhere and no one had any information about it. ”
Asked if he had sought evidence of these attacks, Channi said, “I have always been asking for this (proof).”
After the attack by the BJP on this, the Congress leader reversed his statement and said that no evidence is needed.
The BJP leader said that a Pakistani MP had quoted leaders of opposition parties like Akhilesh Yadav and parties like Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to question the Modi government’s attitude and now Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is trying to join these leaders to get praise in the neighboring country.
Patra criticized the party for the party’s official announcements and the difference in public comments of its members, citing other controversial comments of several Congress leaders related to the Pahalgam terror attack.
He expressed displeasure over the comments of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Maharashtra MLA Vijay Vadettiwar, Himachal Pradesh minister Inder Singh and Rahul Gandhi’s brother -in -law Robert Vadra about the terrorist attack.
At least 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam attack, most of whom were tourists.
Patra alleged that he has questioned the need for war and asked if the terrorists really asked the religion of the people.
He said that this raises questions on the honesty of the official stance of the Congress.
Patra said that this is not just a coincidence, but it is a way.
The BJP leader asked whether such controversial comments by Congress leaders have not reduced the morale of armed forces and generally Indians.
He said that the Congress has asked the government to tell its strategy after the terrorist attack.
Patra said that as soon as Congress leaders know about the government’s plans, they will try to convey a message to Pakistan.
In this context, he also mentioned repeated attacks on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s visit to Pakistan by Assam Chief Minister Himant Vishwa Sharma. Patra said that Sharma has also said that Gogoi’s children are not Indian citizens.
