Journalists told that all the properties of contractor Suresh Chandrakar in Bastar division including Bijapur will be confiscated and declared as government property, FIR will be registered against Suresh Chandrakar, Ritesh Chandrakar and other people involved in the murder and death penalty will be given, Suresh Chandrakar will be deployed in security. Journalists staged a symbolic protest at the city’s Hospital Chowk today demanding removal of security personnel, cancellation of all tenders issued to Suresh Chandrakar, sealing of all his bank accounts and passports and other demands. He said that other demands of the journalists include immediate demolition of the illegal complex built at the incident site Chattanpara, suspension or transfer of Bijapur Superintendent of Police and giving martyr status to journalist Mukesh Chandrakar.
Journalists said that after the murder of Mukesh Chandrakar, there is anger among the media class and public of the area and they are demanding strict action against the culprits.
After receiving information about Mukesh’s murder, journalists took out a candle march at Jaistambh Chowk in the capital Raipur on Friday night and expressed grief over the incident. Journalists have demanded strict action from the state government against the culprits.
Police officials of Bijapur district said that while checking Mukesh’s mobile number, the police reached the property of contractor Suresh Chandrakar in Chattanpara Basti of Bijapur city and recovered the body.
Officials said a case of murder has been registered and some suspects have been detained for questioning. However, he did not say how Mukesh was murdered and whether the contractor was also among those detained or not.
Local journalists told that Mukesh Chandrakar had published a news about the construction of a road some time ago, after which a dispute started between the contractor and him.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that the culprit of the incident will not be spared under any circumstances. Instructions have been given to arrest the criminals as soon as possible and give them the harshest punishment.
