External Affairs Minister S. in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday Jaishankar targeted Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh and called him a “Guru of China”. He said, “Today people are giving a lot of knowledge on China. Actually, some people have said that I do not know much about China.” He added, “I have spent only 41 years in foreign service and I am the longest ambassador in China. But now I am also a Guru of China. There is also an honorable member sitting in front of me, who has such a deep attachment to China that he has created the word” Chindia “.”
Jaishankar’s remarks were a satire on Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, who coined the word “Chindia” to promote the idea of working closely with India and China in the early 2000s.
Jaishankar’s comment came during the time when there was a debate on issues related to Operation Sindoor and National Security in Parliament. He warned the opposition that the statements that make the army and the government look weak could harm India’s position on the international stage.
