External Affairs Minister S. in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday Jaishankar targeted Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh and called him a “Guru of China”. He accused the Congress leaders that they weaken its situation by speaking against the government of India in cases related to China. Jaishankar said that leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh often make statements that strengthen China’s attitude and causes damage to India’s national interests. He also added that these leaders make irresponsible comments on serious cases like foreign policy and also ignore the army sacrifice.
He said, “Today people are giving a lot of knowledge on China. Actually, some people have said that I do not know much about China.” He added, “I have spent only 41 years in foreign service and I am the longest ambassador in China. But now I am also a Guru of China. There is also an honorable member sitting in front of me, who has such a deep attachment to China that he has created the word” Chindia “.”
Jaishankar’s remarks were a satire on Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, who coined the word “Chindia” to promote the idea of working closely with India and China in the early 2000s.
Jaishankar’s comment came during the time when there was a debate on issues related to Operation Sindoor and National Security in Parliament. He warned the opposition that the statements that make the army and the government look weak could harm India’s position on the international stage.
He also said that Congress leaders also raise questions again and again in matters like Galwan struggle and this is a attitude to benefit China. He taunted that “such leaders have become a spokesperson of China and their statements go in favor of China.”
Jaishankar’s comment has come at a time when there is a fierce debate in Parliament on national security, border disputes and foreign policy. The opposition is constantly questioning the Modi government, but the government is standing on its stand.
The whole matter tells how Parliament is no longer a platform for policy discussions, but has become an arena of sharp political attacks. This remark of Jaishankar was clearly an attempt to connect the Congress’s opposition to the anti -nationals, which could lead to further debate in the coming days.
