In the stressful atmosphere of trade war between the US and China, China has issued more than 85,000 visas between January 1 to April 9, 2025, simplifying the visa process for the citizens of India. This information was shared by Chinese Ambassador Shoo Faihong in India on the microblogging website X.
Ambassador Shu wrote in his post, “Chinese embassy and consulates in India have issued visas to more than 85,000 Indian citizens traveling to China this year. More Indian friends are welcome to visit China and experience open, secure, vibrant, honest and friendly China this year.”
He also stated that the visa process has been made easier and economical for Indian travelers than before. Now Indian citizens do not need to take time online for visa appointment and they can submit applications by visiting visa centers directly in working days. In addition, passengers taking short -term, single or double entry visa for a period of up to 180 days are exempted from giving biometric data such as fingers.
China has also cut visa fee and has implemented new, low rates for Indian applicants. The process for Indian tourists and travelers wishing to go to China with all these changes has become much easier than ever.
This initiative comes at a time when commercial tension between the US and China is at its peak. Recently, former US President Donald Trump has increased the US tariff by 10 percent on Chinese imports, which is considered a tough stance. China has also increased tariffs on American products in retaliation.
Meanwhile, a large number of visas issued by China to Indians are an indication that Beijing intends to strengthen its relations with South Asia, especially India. This step taken by China in this era of tension in global trade can promote bilateral cooperation and cultural exchange between India and China.
This initiative will not only encourage tourism, but will also give people of both countries an opportunity to bring them closer to each other. At a time when uncertainty in global diplomacy and trade is increasing, this step of China is considered to be important in terms of regional stability and cooperation.
