However, on 17 April, the US House Selection Committee on Strategic Competition expressed concern about its relationship with the Chinese Communist Party and potential military applications with its Chinese Communist Party, describing Deepsek as a “serious threat to national security”.
Countries like India, Japan and Australia have also banned the use of Deepseek, saying that its data collection practices can violate their national security laws. India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has described Deepsek’s data collection practices as a possible violation of the 2024 Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
