BJP leader CT Ravi
Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Ministry has handed over the case related to BJP MLC CT Ravi and Karnataka Women and Child Welfare Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The CID will now examine the audio and visual evidence related to allegations that Ravi used derogatory and unparliamentary words against Hebbalkar during the recent legislative session.
Allegation of indecency with female minister
The incident took place on December 19 in the Karnataka Legislative Council, where Minister Hebbalkar had accused CT Ravi of using derogatory words. She alleged that the BJP leader called her a ‘prostitute’. Based on Minister Hebbalkar’s complaint, CT Ravi was arrested in Belagavi the same evening. Later Ravi got relief from the Karnataka High Court and was immediately released.
Minister targeted BJP leaders
Speaking to reporters, the minister expressed surprise and disappointment and said that she was in shock. I had never heard such a thing from anyone. I have struggled for 26 years and have come to this level fighting injustice. Hebbalkar also criticized BJP leaders, including state BJP president BY Vijayendra and leader of opposition R Ashok, for supporting CT Ravi.
He said that I pity our Panchamasali Lingayat community leaders, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and Arvind Bellad, who supported a man who made a woman feel disgusted. They are doing this for politics and their party. He accused Ravi of taking out processions, garlanding and glorifying him across the state despite his alleged misconduct. He demanded that if he had any conscience at all he should tell the women in his family that he felt guilty.
CT Ravi’s allegations rejected
On the other hand, CT Ravi has accused the police of misbehavior during his arrest and alleged that he was taken to several places without food or rest. Hebbalkar has rejected these claims as an attempt to politicize the issue.
