In Malkangiri, Odisha, there is a ruckus when a student of class 10 became a mother. The student returned to the hostel after taking the 10th exam and gave birth to the child ahead of time. Police arrested a 22 -year -old youth on Wednesday in this case. It is alleged that this young man raped a student of class 10 of the Government Residential School and made her pregnant. The young man has accepted the allegations against him.
According to the police, after returning from the 10th board examination on Monday, the girl gave birth to a premature child in her hostel, after which both mother and her newborn were admitted to Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital. A senior police officer said that the girl’s neighboring youth has been arrested under Section 6 (serious sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses and Section 64 (rape) and 65 (1) (rape of a girl under 16 years of age).

The officer said that the accused came to the police station and admitted to having a relationship with the girl. Taking the matter seriously, the Odisha government has suspended the headmaster as well as an assistant nurse and midwife and removed the hostel’s metron. The school is run by ST and SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department. The girl’s parents on Tuesday asked the school officials how pregnancy was hidden until childbirth started.
Congress targeted
Bhakt Charan Das, president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, said, “The 10th student coming from the tribal community lives in a hostel, she goes to take the exam and gives birth to a child. It is a shameful thing for the state and administration. The administration goes to the children every month, talk to children in the school. It is their responsibility to visit the tribal children’s schools. The Governor has the rights to visit the tribal schools and communities. So the Governor has the rights of the governors. There is a monitoring system. There is a SC ST committee in the Assembly, in the BJP government, when a tribal community is the President and a tribal is our CM, we strongly condemn such negligence towards tribal children. ” (Input-ANI/PTI)
