Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said on the growing natural disasters in Jammu and Kashmir that the situation is serious in many parts of the state. He said that he will soon reach Jammu and take personally review of the situation. Meanwhile, funds have been released to deal with any emergency. He further said that many rivers are flowing above their normal level, causing damage to the land of the lower area.
The 250 km long Jammu and Kashmir National Highway has been closed due to landslides in Doda. Its opening time has not been told to the media yet. However, these routes are All Weather Road, that is, in any season these roads remain open and traffic goes on. These roads have also been affected by heavy rains and landslides.
Officials have already issued consultation and asked people to stay away from water bodies and landslides potential areas. The weather forecast has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall and cloudburst, sudden floods and landslides in several places in many places in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts till 27 August.
