Rain alert has been issued amid severe cold in North India. It is going to rain in many states including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab in the next few days. Along with rain, severe cold will also increase. The Meteorological Department said that along with rain, there is a possibility of cold wave for the next five to seven days.

Change in weather due to western disturbance

A new Western Disturbance is about to hit the western Himalayan region and plains. Due to this the weather will change. According to the Meteorological Department, Delhi-NCR may remain partly cloudy on Monday. There is a possibility of very light rain or drizzle in many areas. There may be dense fog on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday.

Cold wave will continue with rain only

The Meteorological Department said that there may be rain in many districts of Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana on December 26 (Thursday) and December 27 (Friday). Due to rain there will be severe cold once again. Severe cold wave will be seen in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.

The temperature will drop further

On Sunday, fog was seen in many areas of Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Punjab in the morning. On Sunday, the average minimum temperature of Delhi is likely to be 7 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is likely to be 22 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be a drop in temperature with light rain in Delhi-NCR on Monday. Cold winds will also blow.

It is raining in these parts of the country

The Meteorological Department informed that it is raining heavily in Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Apart from this, it is raining in North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Rayalaseema. There is a rain alert in different areas of Odisha, Coastal Gangetic West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya.

Rain alert amid snowfall in Himachal too

The local meteorological department on Saturday has predicted snowfall and rain at some places in Himachal Pradesh on December 23, 24 and 27. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert at some places in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Mandi till December 24. Yellow alert has been issued for cold wave and frost at some places in Chamba, Kangra and Kullu till December 25.

Snow covered mountains in Kashmir

A day before ‘Chillai Kalan’, the period of severe cold in Kashmir, the temperature in the valley dropped to several degrees below zero. The coldest night of this season so far was recorded in Srinagar. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at minus 6.2 degrees Celsius, slightly lower than the previous night’s minus six degrees Celsius. Due to severe cold, water supply lines and Dal Lake have frozen in many areas.
