New Delhi. Regarding the long-running violent incidents in Manipur, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has apologized to the people of the state. During the press conference at his official residence in Imphal, the CM said, the year 2024 has been very unfortunate. I want to apologize to the people of the state for whatever is happening in the state from May 3 till today. Many people have lost their loved ones. Many people left their homes, I regret this, I apologize.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that the situation in the state will become normal in the new year. He said that after seeing progress towards peace in the last three to four months, I believe that normalcy will be restored in the state by 2025. He taught the people of both Kuki and Meitei communities to forget the old things and make a new beginning. CM said that so far around 200 people have lost their lives in the violence. At the same time, about 12,247 FIRs have been registered in different police stations regarding violent cases. Acting on these FIRs, 625 accused have been arrested.
Also, the police raided and recovered about 5 thousand 600 weapons including explosives and about 35 thousand ammunitions from various places. CM said that the Central Government has taken steps for the safety and help of the families displaced by the violence. Along with deployment of additional security personnel, adequate funds have also been made available for construction of new houses for the displaced people. At the same time, 2058 displaced families have been resettled to their original homes. During this, the CM also gave information about the development works of the government and the plans of the government for the coming year.
