CM Siddaramaiah
Giving great relief to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka High Court quashed the ED’s summons to his wife BM Parvati and Urban Development Minister Birathi Suresh in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda) land allocation case. The ED called Parvati to appear at his Bangalore office on January 28 at 11 am.
Earlier summons was interim restricted
This was the second such notice issued to him, the first was issued on 3 January, in which he was directed to appear on 9 January. However, he demanded to extend the time, citing the need for additional time to raise his age and related documents. On 27 January, the court had interim -interim stay on summons.
On 5 February, the Karnataka High Court extended the ban on ED’s summons till 20 February, providing relief to both Parvati and Suresh. The case is related to alleged irregularities in land allocation by Muda, in which the ED is investigating the possible violation of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Congress and CM refused allegations
Last year, Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot had allowed investigation against corruption complaints against the CM of Karnataka in the allocation of 14 residential sites in Mysore. Siddaramaiah and the Congress party denied the allegations.
Karnataka Lokayukta gave a clean chit to Siddaramaiah
In February, the Karnataka Lokayukta police submitted a final report of 11,000 pages to the court in the MUDA plot allocation case. The incident took place a day after the clean chit given by the Lokayukta police to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Siddaramaiah, his wife, brother -in -law BM Mallikarjun Swamy, Devraju and others were named in an FIR filed on 27 September by the Lokayukta police establishment in Mysore.
