Dispute of rupee mark in Tamil Nadu
In Tamil Nadu, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President and Chief Minister MK Stalin has broken the silence on the rupee’s mark dispute. CM Stalin said on Sunday that the replacement of the Indian rupee symbol with the Tamil letter ‘Ru’ in the state budget presented for 2025-26 is a symbol of how strong his party is about the language policy.
CM took a sarcasm at Nirmala Sitharaman
Stalin made a clear attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that he had released the budget logo, but ‘Those who do not like Tamil raised the issue more.’ The Chief Minister, in his regular ‘Ungalil Oruvan’ (one of you) video address, took a sarcasm at Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for criticizing the issue of rupee mark.
I released the budget of the budget- CM Stalin
Stalin said that she can respond to the matter, but not on the application of Tamil Nadu’s amount to release the amount. The Chief Minister said, ‘I had released the logo of the budget. We used the word ‘Ru’ to show how strong we are towards language policy. But those who do not like Tamil made it big news.
BJP had expressed strong objection
Controversy arose due to the use of ‘Ru’ (the first letter of ‘Rubai’ reflecting the national currency in the local language) in place of the rupee mark in the budget and the BJP raised strong objection to this. (With language input)
