Now according to the Meteorological Department, another western disturbance is going to be active from January 4. Due to this, there will be rain once again along with snowfall in the hilly states and plain areas. According to the Meteorological Department, this may cause the temperature to drop by up to 5 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, apart from the effect of western disturbance, dense fog is also increasing the cold. There is dense fog in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan. Even in Sundernagar, Himachal Pradesh, visibility is zero meters due to fog. At many other places also visibility remains between 40 to 100 meters. The minimum temperature at many places in Jammu and Kashmir including Srinagar is below zero. The lowest temperature recorded in Gulmarg was minus 10 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the temperature in Pahalgam was minus 9.2 degrees. The minimum temperature in Delhi was around 10 degrees. The minimum temperature was recorded at 5.2 degrees Celsius in Sirohi, Rajasthan. In this way Sirohi remained the coldest place in the plains. Due to dense fog in North India, sunlight did not come out in many places. Due to this, the outbreak of cold and cold wave has intensified.

According to the Meteorological Department, like every year, western disturbances may become active several times till the month of February 2025. Apart from this, due to the effect of La Nina the sea surface temperature is lower than the land. Due to this, the cold in India is going to be very intense. The Meteorological Department has already said that this year there will be severe cold compared to other years. Even in 2024, the cold continued till the last week of March. Due to the effect of La Nina, a lot of rain was also seen in the monsoon season this year. Most parts of the country received more than average rainfall. At the same time, the highest rainfall in the month of December in 101 years was also recorded in Delhi recently.
