The air quality in Delhi improved slightly on Friday and now moved from very poor to ‘poor’ category, although a thick layer of smog remained in the city in the morning.
According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the national capital’s air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 281 at 9 am.
The AQI remained in the ‘very poor’ category in areas like Mundka, Punjabi Bagh, Rohini, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Anand Vihar, Alipore, Ashok Vihar, Burari, Sonia Vihar and Mandir Marg.
AQI between zero and 50 is ‘good’, 51 to 100 is ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 is ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 is ‘poor’, 301 to 400 is ‘very poor’. ‘And between 401 and 500 is considered ‘severe’.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 19.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the humidity at 8:30 am was 76 percent.
The Meteorological Department has predicted clear sky during the day and the maximum temperature will be around 34 degrees Celsius.
