Congress MP Manish Tiwari on Tuesday supported US President Donald Trump’s claim that his administration played “important role” in compromising to end enmity between India and Pakistan following an increased tension between two nuclear weapons.
Manish Tiwari referred to American intervention in the historic structure of India-Pakistan relations since 1990, when Pakistan began using a nuclear card. He said that foreign forces under the leadership of America have been continuously intervening at the time of India-Pakistan equation.
The Congress MP said, “The statement that has come from US President Donald Trump, whether you like it or not, is a factual statement. If you look at the India-Pakistan paradigm from the perspective of 1947 to 1972, whenever the tension between India and Pakistan increased, and they were mainly about the state of Jammu and Kashmir, then it was the proposal of the Joint Nation Security Council which was the tweet between the two countries. After 1990, it was the Shimla Agreement that promoted bilateralism. “
He said, “But when Pakistan started raising the issue of nuclear weapons from 1990 … since then, whenever there was a conflict in the India-Pakistan equation, foreign powers like America intervened.”
He said, “But when Pakistan started raising the issue of nuclear weapons since 1990 … since then, whenever there has been a conflict in the Indo-Pakistan equation, foreign powers under the leadership of America have intervened.”
He emphasized the imperative of international intervention over the increase in tension between the two nuclear-head states. “Finally, when the tension between two real nuclear weapons-rich countries increases, the rest of the world will not stand silently. Therefore, other countries of the world will clearly talk to the two countries when they are not talking to each other.”
Trump said, “My administration on Saturday helped to mediate the hostility immediately, I think it would be a permanent enmity between India and Pakistan, as the two countries have a lot of nuclear weapons.” He emphasized that his administration played an important role in mediation in creating understanding to end enmity.
The termination of enmity on May 10, was made after India’s decisive military reaction after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April.
The terrorist structure in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir at Operation Sindoor, launched on 7 May, was targeted, killing more than 100 terrorists.
