New Delhi. In the 1984 Sikh riot case, Congress leader Sajjan Kumar has been convicted by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. The court gave the verdict in the case of riots involved in the murder of Sikh father-son in Saraswati Vihar area of Delhi. The case has been listed on 18 February to debate Sajjan Kumar on the sentence. Sajjan Kumar is currently serving life imprisonment in a case of Delhi Cantt connected with anti -Sikh. Earlier on 7 February, the court postponed the verdict on the sentence.

Earlier in the court, Sajjan Kumar had described the allegations against him as false. Sajjan Kumar’s lawyer advocate Anil Sharma argued in the court that his client’s name was not from the beginning in the case, but the witness took the name of Sajjan Kumar after 16 years. In response to the defense counsel, the government lawyer did not know Sajjan Kumar, the victim of the argument. Later, when he came to know about Sajjan Kumar, he took the name of Sajjan Kumar in this case.
The SIT alleges that Sardar Jaswant Singh and son Sardar Tarun Deep Singh were attacked by a mob of rioters in Raj Nagar area in Saraswati Vihar, Delhi. Both were beaten in which they lost their lives. This violent mob was led by Congress leader Sajjan Kumar. It was he who instigated the mob for violence, after which the fiery people killed Sikh father and son. An FIR was lodged in this case based on the affidavit given before the Ranganath Mishra Commission constituted to investigate the Sikh riots. Earlier on 31 January, the court reserved the order in this case.
