Congress MP Hibibi Eden raised the subject of the alleged recovery of heavy cash at the residence of Delhi High Court Judge Justice Yashwant Verma in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday and demanded a discussion on it.
He raised this issue during the Zero Hour in the House. Eden said that this is a very sad incident and this reduces the trust of the people on the judiciary.
The MP said, “It should be discussed in the House … It should be ensured that there is transparency in the judiciary and there are no such incidents.”
Some members of the opposition associated themselves on the subject with Eden.
On March 14, the fire personnel and police personnel were allegedly received cash while extinguishing the fire in the ‘store room’ of Justice Verma’s official residence in Lutyens Delhi area.
Chief Justice of India Sanjeev Khanna has formed a three -member committee to investigate the incident of getting a “four to five half -bors” filled with notes after the fire incident.
However, Justice Verma has dismissed the allegations against him, saying that he or any member of his family never kept any cash in the store room of his residence.
