Cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ moving rapidly towards the coast

Many districts of West Bengal and Odisha are on alert due to cyclonic storm ‘Dana’. Cyclonic storm Dana is currently moving towards coastal Odisha. This cyclonic storm can hit Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra port coasts of Odisha. It will bring heavy rain and storm to the state on Friday morning. Due to cyclonic storm Dana, there will be heavy rains along with strong winds in the southern part of West Bengal and coastal areas of Odisha. Half of the population of Odisha is in danger of being affected due to this storm.

3 to 4 lakh people have been evacuated

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has reviewed the preparations of the state government. CM Majhi said that till Wednesday evening only 30 percent people living in the identified ‘danger zone’ or about 3-4 lakh people could be evacuated. The process of evacuating people from all danger areas will continue on Thursday morning.

The effect will be visible from tonight itself

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that cyclonic storm Dana may make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra port on Friday morning. However, cyclonic storm Dana is likely to make landfall only from 8 pm on Thursday till Friday morning.

Winds will blow at a speed of 120 KM

IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that the maximum speed during the landfall process is likely to be around 120 kmph. “Hence heavy rainfall, wind and storm surge will peak around the time of landfall,” he said. Which is between the night of 24th October and the morning of 25th October.

Sea waves will rise 2 meters high

When Cyclone Dana hits Odisha, the state may have to face many problems. Odisha and West Bengal may receive heavy to very heavy rains. There is also a possibility of sea waves up to 2 meters high.

High tide will last for about four hours

According to IMD sources, wind speed will be 100-110 kmph in Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore districts. Which can increase up to 120 km per hour. Besides, during the landslide, there will be extremely heavy rain and high tide in the sea for about four hours.

SDRF-NDRF teams alert

Seeing the impact of the cyclonic storm in West Bengal, Governor CV Anand Bose said, ‘We are going through a period of crisis at this time. Cyclone Dana is approaching, but in Bengal we have faced many storms and we will face this too and for this, SDRF and NDRF teams have been alerted.

Guidelines issued

Appealing to the people, the Governor said that please follow all the guidelines issued by the government and the Disaster Management Authority. Follow the instructions given by them. All disaster management machinery of the State Government and Government of India are fully prepared to fight Cyclonic Storm Dana.
