A day before a Kolkata court pronounced its verdict in the RG Kar Hospital rape-murder case, the victim doctor’s parents alleged that the investigation was half-hearted as others involved in the crime were roaming free.
Her parents said they will continue to fight until they get justice for their daughter, whose body was found in the seminar room of a government hospital on August 9 last year, sparking outrage across the country. There were protests for a long time.
Sanjay Roy, a civilian volunteer with the Kolkata Police, was charged with the crime and arrested on 10 August. The additional district and sessions judge of the Sealdah court, where the hearing of the case was completed on January 9, will pronounce his verdict on Saturday.
She told PTI, “Sanjay (Roy) is guilty and tomorrow’s verdict will be against him. But what about other criminals who have not been caught yet? I can see them roaming freely. I saw them roaming in the hospital Therefore, the investigation is incomplete.”
The mother also said that biological evidence has proven Roy guilty, but she believes the authorities are protecting many others involved in the crime.
He said, “All the evidence was either lost or erased. When the then police commissioner Vineet Goyal visited the spot, a large number of people were present there. It looked like a fish market. The people present at the spot should be punished.” Needed.”
After the body was found, pictures purported to show the presence of a large number of people in the seminar room had gone viral. The mother said, “I still don’t know why my daughter was killed like this. How did she know that she was not going to be allowed to live?”
There are speculations that the junior doctor was murdered because he had come to know some secrets which the authorities wanted to hide. The deceased doctor’s father also claimed that the investigation was incomplete.
The father told PTI, “I don’t think Sanjay was alone. There are other people who were involved in the crime, but they are still at large. Hopefully they will be arrested and their crime will be proven. Till then There will be no justice.”
Her parents said they have faith in the judiciary and will be present in the court when the verdict is announced on Saturday. If Roy is found guilty, the court can sentence him to either death penalty or life imprisonment.
Asked if she wanted the death penalty for Roy, the mother said, “I want punishment for the culprits. The judiciary will decide (on the range of punishment).”
It has been investigating the case since the Calcutta High Court handed it over to the CBI. CBI has demanded death penalty for Sanjay. The CBI also told the court that Roy was the only culprit of this crime.
The mother said, “We are from a very simple background. We tried our best to educate our daughter. She was a talented and intelligent girl. I think we still have a long way to go to get justice.” He further said that his days are spent crying in front of his daughter’s picture.
