Matters of Corona are increasing again

According to a recent report, there is a significant increase in cases of Kovid-19 in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Thailand and other regions of Southeast Asia. According to the current update, the famous Bollywood actress Shilpa Shirodkar and Sunrisers Hyderabad star batsman Travis Head has come to the covid test positive. It seems that in cases of Corona, this boom is due to the Covid-19 variant coming from South-East Asia. Is this variant more deadly? So let us know that so far, nothing has been revealed that the new variant of Kovid-19 is more contagious or fatal.

257 patients met in India

In view of this, a review meeting of the National Disease Control Center (NCDC), Emergency Medical Relief (EMR) Division, Disaster Management Cell, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Central Government Hospitals was called under the chairmanship of Director General of Health Services (DGHS). It was concluded in this meeting that the current Covid-19 in India is under control. As of May 19, 2025, the number of Covid-19 cases active in India is 257, which is very low in view of the country’s large population. Almost all of these cases are light, which does not require hospitalization.

Noted things

The new variant of Covid-19-JN.1 of Covid-19 is found in August 2023, and the World Health Organization (WHO) named it in December 2023 as a ‘variant of interest’. It is a descendant of Omikron Ba.2.86 variant. According to WHO, the JN.1 variant has about 30 mutations, and among them LF.7 and NB.1.8, the most common in recent weeks.

The new wave of Covid-19 has emerged from Hong Kong and Singapore to Thailand in Southeast Asia. Most of the cases found in the boom are spreading due to the Omikron variant JN.1 and its respective descendants. More than 14,000 cases were observed in Singapore in early May, while Hong Kong and Thailand also saw a similar surge.

Can Kovid cases increase in India?
According to a report by ET Healthworld, recent growth in Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Thailand is believed to be the cause of antibodies to fight infection. Citing the report, medical experts believe that this can happen in India as well. There is already a slight jump in cases of Corona in states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra in the country.

Take some precautions
If this is a non-essential journey, it is appropriate to postpone your journey.
Wear a mask.
Avoid crowded places.
Wash hands or use a sanitizer.
Consider taking booster shot.
Elderly people, children, people with health conditions like cancer and diabetes should avoid traveling to countries where Kovid infection is increasing.
The biggest thing is not necessary to panic because according to the information so far, the cases of Kovid are light, and people usually get cured without any major problems.
