Congress leader and former MP D.K. Suresh appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday for questioning in a case related to Dhan Laundering and recorded his statement. The case is related to allegations of money laundering against a woman named Aishwarya Gowda.
Official sources said that Gowda is accused of cheating many people.
Suresh Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s brother.
The ED arrested Gowda (33) in April. Prior to the arrest, the agency conducted a search operation against Gowda, Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and some others.
The ED had said in its statement that the accused woman had presented herself as close to many big leaders and cheated people by pretending to make good profits on gold, cash and bank deposits. The woman is accused that she herself D.K. Suresh’s sister was told.
Gowda, her husband Harish K. There are three cases of fraud in the lunar layout of Bengaluru and at least three cases against N and some others.
Before interrogation, Suresh said in a conversation with the communicators, “I had received a notice to appear from the ED at 11 am. He sought some information from me, for which I am going with my lawyer today. This case is not related to me.”
He said, “I do not understand why I was sent a notice. I had complained to the Commissioner of Police, because the woman had orally described herself as my sister. I have nothing to do with this fraud.”
Suresh said that after appearing before the investigating officer, he will know the facts.
The former MP said that he would fully support the investigation of the case.
Reacting to the matter, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Shivkumar said that his family has always been ready to face the ED.
Shivkumar said that the Central Investigation Agency has registered cases against him earlier.
Shivkumar said, “The ED had also filed a case against me. What happened in the end? No one came to our rescue, only the court gave us justice.”
He said that his brother has been called because someone had given a statement. People of the constituency can meet their public representatives.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, “He (Suresh) is ready to cooperate and answer all the questions related to the case.”
