New Delhi. Discussions are going on in Maharashtra regarding the formation of a grand coalition government under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis. However, Shiv Sena president and caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has not yet clarified his stand on joining the new government. But today in the press conference, the three big leaders of Maharashtra showed a different style. When Shinde was asked in the press conference, “Will you take the oath?”, he replied in a light tone, “Hey, we will tell you in the evening.” NCP leader Ajit Pawar immediately reacted to Shinde’s answer and said, “He will understand by evening, I am about to take oath.” Shinde also quipped on this and said, “Dada takes oath in the evening as well as in the morning.” All the leaders present there, even Fadnavis, could not stop laughing at this comment of Shinde.
This is good natured political sarcasm at its best!
Question to Shinde: Will you take oath?
Shinde: Arre Shaam Tak batate hain (Arre! will let you know by the evening)
Ajit Pawar: Inka Shaam Tak Samajh Mein Aayega, Mein Toh Path Lene Wala Hun

This joke of Shinde was a reference to the old political incidents of Ajit Pawar. In November 2019, Ajit Pawar, along with Devendra Fadnavis, suddenly surprised everyone by taking oath as Deputy CM early in the morning. However, this government could not last even for a week. After this, on July 2, 2023, Ajit Pawar rebelled in the NCP and separated from Sharad Pawar and took oath in the Shinde-led government in the evening. Now once again Pawar is going to take oath along with Devendra Fadnavis.
Fadnavis appeals to Shinde
Fadnavis appealed to Shinde to join the grand alliance government and said, “I myself had gone to Shinde ji. We all want them to live with us. We have worked together in the last two and a half years. I have full confidence that he will stay with us.”
