According to the Meteorological Department, Dana is currently located in the Middle Andaman Sea and its strength is continuously increasing. According to the Meteorological Department, Dana will turn into a cyclone on October 23. After this it will gain momentum and cross the coast between Odisha and West Bengal on October 24. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of huge damage in Odisha due to Cyclone Dana.
The Meteorological Department has asked fishermen to return to the coasts of West Bengal and Odisha by the evening of October 21 at all costs. Cyclone Dana will cause very strong winds and will cause high waves in the sea. According to the Meteorological Department, due to cyclone Dana, there will be very heavy rains in West Bengal and Odisha on October 24 and 25. The Meteorological Department estimates that due to Dana, there may be 20 to 30 cm rainfall in areas of coastal Odisha. If this happens, flood-like conditions may be seen in these areas.
Meteorological Department Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra has told the media that when Cyclone Dana crosses the coast of West Bengal and Odisha, the wind speed in this area can be 100 to 120 kilometers per hour. Based on the estimates of the Meteorological Department, it can be assumed that the extent of damage due to strong winds is likely to be higher. Many cyclones have hit the Bay of Bengal so far this year. Due to which there was rain in the eastern, southern areas and north-eastern states till the first week of October, but the Dana cyclone is expected to be much stronger than the previous cyclones. Odisha government is already preparing to take people to safe places.
