New Delhi. Darbhanga Mayor Anjum Ara has now regretted it after seeing the statement of Holi increasing. Anjum Ara had said that Holi should be banned for two hours for prayers. He suggested this at the meeting of the District Peace Committee held in Darbhanga. However, the DM of Darbhanga has rejected his suggestion. On the other hand, after this statement, Mayor Anjum Ara has come under the target of BJP. From Bihar BJP leaders to Union Minister, Anjum is condemning Ara’s statement. Due to this, now the tone of Anjum Ara has changed and she has come on the backfoot.

Anjum Ara regretted his statement and said that since morning many people are calling me Bangladeshi and traitor. I want to say through media persons that get me investigated, if I get anything against me, I am ready for punishment. He said that my intention was only that peace remained in Darbhanga. But, if someone’s faith is hurt by my point, then I regret my statement.

On the other hand, BJP MP Gopal Ji Thakur said that the Mayor should understand that Mithila’s land is a peace loving land. For years, people have been celebrating the festival of Holi every year in a peaceful manner. His statement is very condemnable and we thoroughly condemn such derogatory statement. The BJP MP said that I demand the administration of Darbhanga, the law should be taken against them.
