According to the newspaper, Pakistan wanted it to be made the Chairman of the 1267 Sankation Committee of the United Nations Security Council, 1540 Non-Professional Sankation Committee, 1988 Taliban Committee and 1373 Counter Terrorism Committee. He was given the post of Chairman of only 1988 Taliban Section Committee and was made the Vice President in the 1373 Counter Terrorism Committee. An officer told the Times of India that due to this desire of Pakistan, there was also factionalism among the member countries of the Security Council. Due to this, the election of member countries on the presidents of the committees and other posts also delayed 5 months. The committee which were to be formed in January 2025 were formed in June.
This officer told the newspaper that Pakistan was adamant on its demand. Because of which many other members of the Security Council were also unhappy with him. Pakistan suffered losses instead of benefits. All attempts to surround India on the issue of terrorism were piled up in the United Nations Security Council. According to the officer, the US, Russia, China, France and Britain, the permanent member countries of the Security Council, showed no interest in achieving these committees. Because these posts do not have much importance and any proposal passes on the basis of majority in the Security Council. Overall, Pakistan has suffered a major diplomatic defeat in the Security Council.
