The Defense Ministry on Wednesday declared 2025 as the year of reforms and said the aim would be to facilitate the establishment of a unified military command to promote cohesion among the three services of the military.
The Defense Ministry said the reform measures will be implemented to transform the armed forces into a technologically advanced and combat-ready force capable of multi-domain integrated operations.
The ministry said that in 2025, the focus will be on new areas like cyber and space, emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, hypersonics and robotics.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “The year of reform will be an important step in the journey of modernization of the armed forces.” He said, “It will lay the foundation for unprecedented progress in the country’s defense preparedness and thus meet the challenges of the 21st century.” The center will make preparations to ensure the security and sovereignty of the nation.
In a high-level meeting chaired by Singh, it was decided to observe the year 2025 as the Year of Reforms.
