Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: FIR lodged against BJP candidate Parvesh Verma for violation of code of conduct, Kejriwal had complained

New Delhi. After receiving the letter from the Election Commission, Delhi Police has registered an FIR against BJP candidate Pravesh Verma for violation of the code of conduct. This matter is related to distribution of shoes in New Delhi constituency. Earlier, the Election Commission of India had ordered legal action against BJP candidate Pravesh Verma from New Delhi.

Order to register case at Mandir Marg police station

The Election Commission had written a letter to the station in-charge of Mandir Marg police station and directed to take action in the matter. This step was taken after a complaint about distribution of shoes to voters in Balmiki Colony located on Mandir Marg.

Video evidence given in the complaint

According to the Returning Officer of New Delhi constituency, he had received a complaint regarding distribution of shoes at the Valmiki Temple complex near Mandir Marg police station. The complainant provided two videos, in which Pravesh Verma is seen distributing shoes to women. The commission has also sought an action taken report from the police.

Pravesh Verma’s nomination filed

Earlier on Wednesday, BJP candidate Pravesh Verma filed his nomination from New Delhi seat. Before filing nomination papers, he offered prayers and performed havan at the Gauri Shankar temple at Chandni Chowk. After this they marched from Windsor Place to Jamnagar House.

Preparation for Delhi Assembly elections

Voting for 70 seats of Delhi Assembly is to be held on February 5 and counting of votes will take place on February 8. Many leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are busy in their preparations.
