Due to increasing levels of pollution in Delhi city, many construction activities have been banned, which has created a situation of economic crisis for thousands of workers. In such a situation, the Delhi government has taken an important step and decided to provide financial assistance to these affected workers.
A plan has been made to provide one-time financial assistance of eight thousand rupees to the workers. The Supreme Court had also directed the government in this direction, so that the economic loss suffered by the workers could be compensated.
The Delhi Construction Workers Welfare Board, which was formed recently, took this important decision in its first meeting. Data shows that at present there are 90 thousand 759 laborers in Delhi who are registered and are fulfilling the minimum conditions to get benefits.
For this scheme, workers will have to register themselves by visiting the district labor offices by 25th November. Once the verification process of workers’ details is completed, their money will be directly transferred to the Aadhaar linked bank account. For this, they will be given information through SMS on their registered mobile number.
Initial instructions for this entire process have been given to the district labor offices. However, workers continue to face problems due to the complete ban on construction work due to pollution. On this issue, the Supreme Court had also earlier appealed to the government to take strict steps.
