New Delhi. Lieutenant Governor i.e. LG Vinay Kumar Saxena has landed in the ground to lift the ban on 10 -year -old diesel and 15 -year -old petrol vehicle in Delhi. LG has asked the Delhi government to file a review petition in the Supreme Court. According to the newspaper The Times of India, LG VK Saxena has written to the Delhi government in the letter that the government has taken several steps to control pollution in the capital in recent months. Now the situation is different from before. LG has told the Delhi government that because of this, one should go to the Supreme Court and tell that the old order needs to be reviewed in the changed situation.
Along with this, LG has also urged Delhi CM Rekha Gupta to request the Chairman of the Air Quality Management Commission to avoid the plan to stop the time of running old vehicles everywhere in the NCR, the plan to prevent old vehicles from fueling should be postponed. In fact, in the year 2018, the Supreme Court had ordered that registration of 10 -year -old diesel and 15 -year -old petrol -powered vehicles should be canceled in Delhi and NCR. 62 lakh vehicles are coming under this order in Delhi. From the first date of July, such vehicles stopped getting fuel in Delhi. Also, 10 year old diesel and 15 year old petrol vehicles were being seized.
Along with people, environmental experts are also raising questions on the process of not giving petrol and diesel to old vehicles and seizing them. Those who raise questions say that if the vehicle is spreading pollution, then action against it is fine, but if an old vehicle is following the rules of pollution, it is not right to scrap it as a deadline. After a lot of hurdle, Delhi Government Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa had said that a new system is now being developed for old vehicles. Now if a review petition is filed by the Delhi government and the Supreme Court changes its order, then the people of Delhi will get a lot of convenience.
