Officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have vacated the building from the residents of it after finding out a four -storey building in Bihari Colony of Shahdara.
Authorities have also issued notices to those living in nearby buildings to vacate the house. The MCD has decided to take a similar action in the case of other buildings which are bent and in a dilapidated position, as they are threatened by people’s lives and property.
Sandeep Kapoor, chairman of the Standing Committee of Shahdara South Zone MCD, told ANI, “MCD is taking action on all buildings that are 5-6 storey and bent or in a dilapidated condition. Such buildings can become a threat to people’s lives and property.”
He said that the officials will decide whether the building will be demolished in Bihari Colony. He said that public safety is the top priority of MCD.
Kapoor said, “The safety of the public is the highest priority. In this connection, this 4 -storey building is slightly bent in Bihari Colony. It was surveyed and the building was evacuated at night. The building will be decided by the officials.”
He said, “Notices have also been issued for the buildings around the said building, so that they can be vacated.”
On receiving the information, the team of police, corporation and BSES reached the spot on Thursday night. Also the house was evacuated. The corporation, after pasting notice on the house, said that it is a dangerous building. Due to the hole being too much of the house, the people around are afraid that it does not fall suddenly.
It was found that the house belongs to a person named Abid Ali. He has rented this house. Three families live on three floors. Four shops are renting on the ground floor. The house is said to be about 15 to 18 years old. Local people said that this house has been bending for about four months. It further bowed down on Wednesday. The landlord has put wooden planks to protect the house from falling. Local people informed the police and the corporation.
