Many murders in Haryana and a wanted criminal involved in arms cases in Delhi were shot near Delhi-Haryana border on Tuesday morning. An official gave this information.
The deceased has been identified as Romil Vohra, a resident of Yamunanagar in Haryana. He was wanted in more than eight cases, including the triple murder in Yamunanagar and another murder in Kurukshetra.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwaha said that Romil was also wanted in a case of the Arms Act registered by the Special Cell of Delhi Police.
He said, “The order of murders in Haryana, allegedly gangster Virendra Pratap alias Kala Rana, who was recently extradited from Bangkok, and his brother Surya Pratap alias Noni Rana, who is currently abroad, was given.”
On the basis of information received from Haryana STF that Romil could come to Delhi to carry out any other crime, a joint team of STF and Special Cell laid a trap near the Delhi-Haryana border with the Kishangarh police.
Additional CP said, “This morning, Romil was stopped by a joint team near Delhi-Haryana border. During the shootout, one sub-inspector of Delhi and Haryana Police was injured. Romil was also shot.”
All were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital where doctors declared Romil dead. Officials said that Haryana Police had declared a reward of Rs 3 lakh on Romil.
Officials said the standard legal procedures related to the deaths in the police encounter are being followed.
