It is being told that after its investigation, the inquiry committee had ordered the Delhi Police to seal the part of Justice Verma’s house where there was a fire. The inquiry committee constituted by the Supreme Court Collegium has included Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Sheel Nagu, Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Justice GS Sandhawalia and Karnataka High Court Judge Anu Shivraman. On the other hand, the strike of lawyers continues even today in protest against the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium to the Allahabad High Court being transferred to Justice Verma.
On the call of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association, a large number of lawyers started gathering at gate number 3 of the High Court in the morning and then protested there. The Bar Association has appealed to CJI Justice Sanjeev Khanna to reconsider the Supreme Court Collegium’s decision. A petition has also been filed by some lawyers in the Supreme Court, in which an FIR has been lodged against Justice Verma. The petition said that if the cash was recovered at the house of an officer or leader, an FIR would be immediately lodged against him, but an FIR was not registered against the High Court judge, why?
