Delhi Police took several steps for mob management after a stampede at New Delhi railway station

Delhi Police has taken several measures to control the huge crowd of passengers at New Delhi railway station, so that the stampede -like situation does not reappear. An official gave this information on Tuesday. On Saturday, 18 people were killed and several people were injured in a stampede at the station.

A senior police officer said, “A special meeting was held on Monday night, in which it was decided that passengers arriving long before the scheduled train departure time would have to wait outside the railway station. For smooth traffic, Delhi Police personnel will check the tickets of passengers at all entry and exit points with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP).

Railway officials have also decided that special trains going to Prayagraj will leave only from platform number 16. “The ground level on platform 16 can be reached through several entry and exit points, so that passengers will not need to use foot overbridge,” the official said. This will help in managing the crowd effectively. ”The police have also banned the foot overbridge without any valid reason.

The official said, “We saw many people unnecessarily standing or waiting on the foot overbridge, causing congestion and delay. Now, no one will be allowed to stand there without any valid reason. ”To further control the crowd, a specified waiting area with a temporary pandal outside the station has been created.

Another official said that walk patrolling on all platforms has been increased, and passengers will not be allowed to sit on the platform without valid reasons.
