New Delhi. Due to increasing air pollution in Delhi-NCR, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) have implemented the fourth phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) from Monday. Under this, many restrictions have been implemented in the capital. After the implementation of Grap-4, entry of trucks, loaders and other heavy vehicles has been banned in Delhi. However, vehicles supplying essential commodities have been exempted.

Construction and demolition work: There will be a complete ban on all types of construction and demolition work. Traffic restrictions: Only vehicles using clean fuel like CNG/BS-VI diesel/electric will be allowed. Offices and Schools: Online classes for schools and 50% of employees in government and private offices have been suggested to work from home. Odd-even system: There may be consideration of implementing odd-even scheme for vehicles.
Highlights of the order
Except for vehicles supplying essential commodities, trucks of any type will not be allowed to enter Delhi. Construction activities on highways, flyovers and other public projects will also remain prohibited. CAQM has suggested online classes for students of classes 6 to 9 and 11. Government and private offices have been instructed to operate with 50% employees and allow the rest to work from home.

AQI at critical level
The average air quality index (AQI) in Delhi-NCR crossed 500 on Sunday, which falls in the ‘severe’ category. AQI recorded at dangerous level in many areas of Delhi:
Anand Vihar: 608 Ashok Vihar: 539 Greater Kailash: 586 ITI Shahdara: 608 PGDAV College: 701
The average AQI of Delhi on Monday was 481. It was recorded at very poor levels in many areas:
Ashok Vihar: 495 Rohini: 492 ITO: 467 Nehru Nagar: 494
Health effects and suggestions
Experts have appealed to people to ensure that children, the elderly, and those suffering from respiratory or heart disease stay indoors and avoid outdoor activities. The public has been appealed to follow the guidelines and cooperate in reducing pollution.
