Pollution levels in Delhi have reached dangerous levels for the fifth consecutive day. In view of this, GRAP has implemented Stage-4 under which many restrictions have been imposed. This will come into effect from 8 am on Monday. Many restrictions have been imposed under Stage-4. Entry of trucks has been banned in Delhi, except those carrying essential commodities or providing essential services and all CNG or electric trucks. The Delhi government on Sunday announced that in-person classes will remain suspended for all except Class 10 and 12 students.
“With GRAP-4 coming into force from tomorrow, physical classes will be closed for all students except classes 10 and 12. All schools will conduct online classes until further orders,” Chief Minister Atishi said in a post on Twitter.
Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) worsened on Sunday, reaching 441 at 4 pm and rising to 457 at 7 pm due to adverse weather conditions. As per the government order, there will be a temporary ban on all construction activities including highways, roads, flyovers and other public projects.
The panel said there is a ban on BS-IV or older diesel medium and heavy goods vehicles registered in Delhi, except for essential services. Similar to GRAP Phase-III, restrictions on construction and demolition activities have also been imposed for linear public projects like highways, roads, flyovers, overbridges, power transmission, pipelines, telecommunications etc.
