Objectionable remarks on Shri Ram in JNU.
Once again news of clash between student organizations has come to light in Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). According to the information, there was a clash between Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Left students after objectionable remarks about Lord Ram were made in the University Governing Council meeting (UGBM) on Monday night. At the same time, JNU Students Union has alleged that ABVP members have made caste based comments on JNUSU officials.
What did the left organizations say?
Actually, JNU Students Union had called a meeting to discuss about participating in the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) elections. The ICC is the body established to redress complaints of sexual harassment on the university campus. The university had abolished the Sexual Harassment Gender Sensitization Committee (GSCASH) in 2017 and constituted an internal complaints committee. JNU Students Union has been opposing this for a long time. On Tuesday, the student union alleged that ABVP members forcibly entered the meeting, reached the stage, assaulted its members and threatened them.
Allegations of caste based abuses and threats
JNUSU said ABVP members harassed President Dhananjay, Vice President Avijit Ghosh and Joint Secretary Mohammed Sajid along with other students. Apart from this, caste based abuses were also given to Dhananjay. Apart from this, he has also been accused of threatening Sajid.
Derogatory remarks against Shri Ram- ABVP
On the other hand, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has accused left student organizations of making derogatory comments against Lord Ram. ABVP has condemned the derogatory remarks made against Lord Shri Ram by a leftist member in JNU’s UGBM. (input language)
