New Delhi. Amid the ongoing language dispute over Hindi and Marathi in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has clearly stated that hooliganism will not be tolerated in the name of Marathi. Fadnavis’s statement came after the incident in which some workers of Raj Thackeray’s party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had recently beat up a shopkeeper for not speaking Marathi. Fadnavis said that the pride of Marathi language in Maharashtra is not a wrong thing but it is not right to beat people on the basis of any other language. The CM warned that legal action will be taken against whoever creates a language controversy.

CM said that we are proud of our Marathi but we have to keep in mind that injustice cannot be done in this way with any language of India. Fadnavis said, I sometimes wonder that these people embrace English and dispute on Hindi, what is this idea and what kind of action is it? Therefore, strict action will be taken against those who take the law in hand. Fadnavis said about the MNS workers who assaulted that they think that they are only Marathi, but it is not so, we are also Marathi. Marathi people support us and are with us.
Let us tell you that on June 28, some MNS workers arrived at the Jodhpur Sweets Shop located on Meera Road in Mumbai. Here the owner of the shop talked to him in Hindi and MNS workers asked to speak in Marathi. When he refused to speak Marathi, MNS workers beat him up the shop owner. The video of this incident also went viral on social media.
