New Delhi. Today, on the holy festival of Kartik Purnima, a fair of lakhs of devotees is organized at the Ganga ghats across the country including Haridwar, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Patna. The bathing of devotees in Ganga started from 4 o’clock in the morning. The condition of Ganga ghats is such that crowds of people are visible everywhere. On one hand, cold has set in, while on the other hand, bathing in Ganga in the morning by elders, women, men and even children shows their faith.

Importance of bathing in Ganga on Kartik Purnima

According to the beliefs of Hindu religion, on the day of Kartik Purnima, the gods come to Har ki Pauri located in Haridwar to take bath in the Ganga. For this reason the water of Ganga becomes like nectar. It is said that bathing in Ganga on this day brings desired benefits along with the blessings of God. Devotees also donate after bathing in Ganga.

Surveillance is being done through CCTV for security.

Most of the devotees have reached Haridwar to take a bath in the Ganga. Here, devotees started gathering at the ghats since night and the Ganga bathing program started as soon as dawn broke. To ensure security, Haridwar Police deployed security personnel in 9 zones and 33 sectors, who are monitoring the area through CCTV surveillance.

On the other hand, regarding the arrangements, Patna City SDM Satyam Sahay himself is visiting the Ganga ghats and inspecting them. He told that we had already completed preparations in view of Kartik Purnima. In view of the security at the ghats where there are more devotees, SDRF teams have been deployed on boats and are patrolling the ghats.
