The Dhami government of Uttarakhand, taking strict action on the land scam in Haridwar, has suspended 12 people, including two IAS and one PCS officer. This action has been taken in the case of buying 15 crore land for 54 crores.
This scam took place in Haridwar Municipal Corporation. The Municipal Corporation bought a land which was not required, besides this land was purchased at a very high price. The rules were not followed in procurement.
After the investigation, the government immediately took action as soon as the report was received. Haridwar District Magistrate Kamendra Singh, former Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary and SDM Ajayvir Singh were suspended. Apart from this, Senior Finance Officer Nikita Bisht, Advocate Rajesh Kumar, Tehsil Administrative Officer Kamaldas, and Senior Personal Assistant Vicky have also been suspended.
Earlier in this scam, Assistant Municipal Commissioner in -charge of the Municipal Corporation Ravindra Kumar Dayal, Executive Engineer Anand Singh Mishrawan, Tax and Revenue Superintendent Laxmikant Bhatt and Under Engineer Dinesh Chandra Kandpal were suspended for being found prima facie guilty.
This is the first time in Uttarakhand that the government has taken direct action against such big officers sitting in their own system. Chief Minister Dhami has made it clear that corruption will not be tolerated at any cost. He said that the government is committed to working with honesty and transparency.
