Ashish Shelar, a minister in the Maharashtra government, said in the Assembly on Friday that the Dharavi redevelopment project is the only project that ensures housing for slums who do not qualify in the city.
He claimed that not even an inch of land in Dharavi has been given to industrialist Gautam Adani. Shelar, while responding to the debate on infrastructure issues in the assembly, said that Dharavi’s claim to give land to Adani is completely false and misleading. He said, “Those making such allegations should know that the entire land of Dharavi is from the Dharavi Redevelopment Authority, which is a company established by the state government.”
Shelar challenged critics to present a single official land record in the name of Adani in support of their claims.
He said that the Dharavi Redevelopment Project Private Limited (DRPPL) is a contractor company working for redevelopment and as per the agreement, the contractor will have to give 20 percent of the profit to the state government.
