Committee headed by Amit Shah released relief package
A high -level committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved an additional central assistance of Rs 1280.35 crore to Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, in 2024 floods, cloudbursts, landslides and cyclonic storms. An official statement said that out of a total of Rs. 1280. 35 crore rupees have been sanctioned for Bihar Rs 588.73 crore, Rs 136.2 crore for Himachal Pradesh, Rs 522. 34 crore for Tamil Nadu and Rs 33. 06 crore for Puducherry.
This is in addition to the funds issued by the Center in the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and the Union Territory Disaster Response Fund (UTDRF), which is already with the states and union territories.
33. 06 crore assistance to Puducherry
The statement said that the Government of India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stands shoulder to shoulder with Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Union Territory (UT) Puducherry, who faced natural disasters last year. The committee approved a assistance of Rs 1247.29 crore to three states – Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), which is subject to adjustment of 50 percent of the amount for the year available for the year available in SDRF and Rs 33. 06 crore to Puducherry.
Last year record
During FY 2024-25, the Central Government has given 20,264 to 28 states under SDRF. 40 crore rupees and 19 states under NDRF 5,160. 76 crore rupees released. In addition, Rs 4984.5 crore has been issued to 19 states from the State Disaster Reduction Fund (SDMF) and Rs 719.72 crore to eight states from National Disaster Reduction Fund (NDMF).
