The leadership of the ruling Congress party in Karnataka and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday appealed to the party MLAs to avoid public statements. According to Congress sources, the party high command has also asked the MLAs to follow whatever decision they take. This message was given at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting, which was held on Monday evening. Congress general secretaries Randeep Singh Surjewala and Jairam Ramesh were also present in the meeting.
Gave opinion on the issue of change of leadership
According to sources, this instruction was given especially when many MLAs and ministers of the party had publicly expressed their opinion on the issue of change of leadership. Some MLAs have hinted at the possibility of a leadership change, while others have ruled it out altogether. This development has created an atmosphere of discussions within the Congress party regarding politics and possible change of power.
Speculations about change of power intensified after dinner
However, after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s recent meeting with his select Dalit and Scheduled Tribe cabinet colleagues at a dinner organized at the residence of Minister Satish Jarkiholi, discussions have intensified within the Congress that after the state budget in March. There may be a change of power in the state. In particular, it is being said that this change can happen within the party under a ‘second Chief Minister’ or ‘power-sharing’ formula.
