DK Shivakumar
Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President DK Shivakumar told this amid ongoing discussions regarding leadership change and power sharing within the ruling Congress Party in Karnataka. He said on Wednesday that there are no differences in the party and whatever statements are being made on this matter have no importance.
“Who said there are differences?”
Shivkumar made it clear that there are no differences between him and the party leadership i.e. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the high command. Amid ‘dinner politics’ in the state unit of Congress, he tried to deny any differences of opinion in the party. He said, “There may be differences among you, but there are no differences among us. Who said there are differences? There are no differences.”
Why discussions about change of power?
His statement came when Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had recently organized a dinner with selected Dalit and Scheduled Tribe colleagues from the cabinet, after which speculations regarding power sharing had intensified. In Karnataka, the question of power-sharing or appointing Chief Ministers on rotation has started gaining momentum. After March, discussions are being held about change of power in the state.
“None of the statements matter”
Amidst these discussions, Shivakumar made it clear that there are no differences of any kind in the Congress party and only those statements given by the party high command and the Chief Minister have importance. He said, “No statement, nothing. No statement has any importance. Only what I say here as party president and what the Chief Minister or the high command says, has importance.” (with language input)
