Ban imposed on firecrackers

Diwali is here, Diwali will be celebrated with great pomp across the country on 31st October. Houses have been decorated, preparations for puja are going on. Firecrackers will also be burst. The children are already busy bursting crackers. This is a matter of celebration, now let us know what orders have been issued in which states regarding firecrackers. Keeping in mind the air quality, firecrackers have been completely banned in the country’s capital Delhi. At the same time, many other states have imposed restrictions to some extent regarding firecrackers during Diwali. In view of environmental concerns, many strict rules regarding firecrackers have been implemented in many states like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Tamil Nadu. These rules are aimed at reducing the deterioration in air quality during this festive period.

Delhi imposes complete ban on firecrackers

Usually known for its severe air quality every winter, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has imposed a complete ban on the manufacture, storage, sale and use of firecrackers by January 1, 2025. This also includes online sales. However, only ‘green crackers’, which are less harmful, are allowed in the city, and that too for just two hours on Diwali night from 8 pm to 10 pm. The use of firecrackers has also been banned on Gurupurva, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Green crackers are allowed because they do not contain toxic chemicals like barium and lead used in firecrackers.
