US President Donald Trump has said that he has made it clear to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that India will not be exempted from Washington’s retaliation. He said, “No one can argue with me on the issue of fees.”
Trump recently made these comments during an interview to ‘Fox News’. Fox News broadcast a joint television interview with President Trump and billionaire Allen Musk on Tuesday night. On February 12, hours before Prime Minister Modi’s bilateral meeting with Trump at the White House, the US President announced a counter tariff (fee).
Under this scheme, the Trump administration will impose almost equal counter -fees on each foreign trade partner. During the interview, Trump reiterated his stance on the existing fee structures between its partners, including the US and India.
President Trump said, “I told Prime Minister Modi yesterday (when he was here) we are going to do this: equal counter -duty.” Whatever fee you charge, I will do the same. “Trump said,” He said (Modi), “No, no, I don’t like it.” So I said, ‘No, no, whatever fee you will impose, I will do the same. I am doing the same with every country. ”
India imposes a lot of strict duty on some imports from the US, such as India imposes 100 percent duty in the automobile sector. During the interview, Musk said, “It is 100 percent – 100 percent duty on auto imports.” Yes, it is too much. And there is something similar on many other things. I said, ‘We are going to do this: counter -duty. Whatever fee you pay, I will also charge the same fee. ”
Trump said that under the counter duty system, the US would impose the same level duty on Indian imports as India imposes American goods.
