The Department of Telecommunications has blocked around 27 lakh mobile phones to tighten the cybercrime. This action has been taken in the last 15 months. Apart from this, the Department of Telecommunications has also blocked crores of SIM cards used in cybercrime. In the past, the Department of Telecommunications has given a shock to those doing cybercrime by blocking mobile and SIM.
According to the information, the Department of Telecommunications has taken this action on the complaints of cybercrime received from users on the ‘Communication Saathi’ website. People had told in the complaint that from which mobile number they were framed by sending fake links through WhatsApp, phone calls and SMS. Based on those numbers, the Department of Telecommunications tracked the IMEI numbers of the concerned mobile and then blocked those mobile phones along with the SIM card. By blocking the IMEI number, the mobile phones of those who do cybercrime are not of any use. The Department of Telecommunications has now also launched the app of the communication partner. So that people can immediately complain about cybercrime and take action on the government machinery on it.
According to the Department of Telecommunications, the maximum number of 2 lakh mobile phones have been blocked in Eastern UP. 1.44 lakh mobile phones of cybercrime in western UP were blocked. At the same time, 1.22 lakh mobile phones were blocked by Bihar and Jharkhand. The Department of Telecommunications has informed that 1.15 lakhs of cybercrime in Delhi and 31000 mobile phones in Mumbai were blocked. Apart from this, the Department of Telecommunications has also blocked more than 4 crore SIM cards, which were being used by cybercrime. Apart from this, action has also been taken against those selling SIM cards.
