National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval made a strong appeal to leave double standards against terrorism at the 20th meeting of the Security Council Secretaries of Shanghai Cooperation (SCO) in Beijing on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. Doval indirectly mentioned Pakistan, saying that it is necessary to combat every form of terrorism including terrorism across the border as “crime against humanity”. He demanded strict action on terrorist groups nominated by the United Nations Security Council such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Al-Qaeda and ISIS.
Doval also stressed on strengthening cooperation against terrorism even in meeting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. He said that India and China can work together for regional peace, as two major Asian countries. Doval invited Wang for the 24th round of Special Representative (SR) talks in India.
The meeting indicates improvement in India-China relations, especially after the Ladakh deadlock of May 2020. Doval advocated a joint information campaign against terrorism, separatism and extremism. On April 22, the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed, and in response to India’s operation vermilion, India has become more strict.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will also present the vision of India against terrorism in a meeting of SCO Defense Ministers in Kingdao on 25-26 June. India clarified that it is necessary to justify terrorism sponsors and financiers.
