Dozens of trains cancelled on Bhagalpur railway line. Floods have made commuting to Patna difficult. Railways have released a list of cancelled and diverted trains

The flood crisis in Bihar has once again deepened, due to which normal life has been badly affected. The situation has worsened in many districts due to the huge rise in the water level of the Ganges. Areas like Bhagalpur, Munger and Lakhisarai are facing the threat of floods. This disaster has also affected rail services, especially on the Jamalpur-Bhagalpur rail section, where water has reached the railway track. In view of the situation, the Railways has canceled many trains and changed the routes of some.

Flood water on railway track

Flood water has reached the girder of bridge no. 195 on Jamalpur-Bhagalpur railway line, due to which the movement of trains on this route has been disrupted. Around 12 o’clock on Saturday night, rail services came to a halt due to waterlogging on the tracks between Sultanganj and Ratanpur stations. Due to this, passengers had to face a lot of inconvenience. As a precautionary measure, the railway administration has canceled many trains and the routes of some trains have been changed.

Diverted trains

Vikramshila Express (12367) will be operated from Bhagalpur via Banka-Jasidih route. Howrah-Gaya Express (13023) will be operated via Banka-Jasidih route. Surat-Bhagalpur Express (22947) will be operated via Jasidih-Banka-Bhagalpur. Gandhidham-Bhagalpur Special (09451) will be operated via Jasidih-Banka-Bhagalpur. Anand Vihar-Malda Town Express (13430) will run via Jamalpur-Munger-Katihar. Godda-Lokmanya Tilak Express (22311) will run via Dumka-Jasidih route. Ranchi-Bhagalpur Exam Special (08601/08602) will run via Saithia-Rampur Hat-Barharwa. Gaya-Howrah Express (13024) will run via Kiul-Jhajha-Asansol.

Partially terminating/originating trains

Bhagalpur-Jaynagar Express (15553) will now start from Barauni. Godda-Ranchi Express (18604) will start from Jamalpur. Kiul-Malda Town Express (13410) will start from Sultanganj. Rampur Hat-Gaya Special (05407) will end at Sahibganj.

Administration action

Along with the railways, the administration is also keeping an eye on this situation. Relief and rescue operations are being speeded up in the flood-affected areas. Alternative arrangements are being made by the railways to ensure that passengers do not face any inconvenience. Efforts are being made to provide timely information to the passengers of trains which have been cancelled or changed.

The flood situation is being constantly monitored so that the situation does not worsen further.
